Ham and Cheddar Arepa Sandwich — A Simple Gluten-Free Grab-and-Go Lunch
Ham and cheddar is the sandwich that works every time, for every age. Melted between two warm arepas, it becomes a portable gluten-free lunch you can wrap up and take anywhere — school pick-up, soccer practice, a long drive, any of it.
Ingredients
- 2 Zavor & Co gluten-free arepas
- 4 slices deli ham
- 2 slices cheddar cheese
- 1 tsp yellow or Dijon mustard
How to Make It
- Warm arepas in toaster or dry skillet 1–2 minutes.
- Layer ham and cheddar on one warm arepa.
- Let the cheddar soften from the heat of the arepa, about 1 minute.
- Spread mustard on the second arepa.
- Press together. Wrap in parchment or foil. Ready to travel.
Why It Works
Ham and cheddar has universal kid appeal and zero prep beyond assembly. The warm arepa softens the cheese slightly so it sticks — no extra melting step needed. This is the on-the-go lunch that takes five minutes and holds together for hours.
