Cream cheese and deli ham between two gluten-free Colombian arepas as a lunchbox sandwich

Cream Cheese and Ham Arepa Sandwich — Simple Gluten-Free Lunchbox

June 12, 2026

Smooth cream cheese and deli ham between two arepas — a two-minute lunchbox sandwich that travels perfectly and kids genuinely look forward to opening.

Ingredients

  • 2 Zavor & Co gluten-free arepas
  • 3 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 4 slices deli ham
  • 4–5 thin cucumber slices (optional)

How to Make It

  1. Toast arepas until warm, then let cool slightly.
  2. Spread cream cheese generously on one side of each arepa.
  3. Layer ham slices on one arepa. Add cucumber slices if using.
  4. Press the second arepa on top to form a sandwich.
  5. Wrap in parchment and pack — stays fresh and holds shape until lunch.

Why It Works

Cream cheese is one of the best spreads for a lunchbox sandwich — it does not make the arepa soggy the way mayo can. Combined with deli ham, this is a sandwich that kids eat completely and parents feel good about packing.
