Peanut Butter and Jelly Arepa — The Gluten-Free Lunchbox Classic
Peanut butter and jelly between two arepas — the most iconic lunchbox sandwich in America, naturally gluten-free. Two minutes in the morning, zero complaints at lunchtime.
Ingredients
- 2 Zavor & Co gluten-free arepas
- 2 tbsp peanut butter (or sunflower butter for nut-free schools)
- 1 tbsp grape jelly or strawberry jam
How to Make It
- Toast arepas until warm, then let cool slightly.
- Spread peanut butter on one arepa.
- Spread jelly on the other arepa.
- Press the two arepas together to form a sandwich.
- Wrap in parchment paper and pack — holds well for hours.
Why It Works
PB&J is one of the most tried-and-true combinations in childhood — and swapping the bread for an arepa makes it naturally gluten-free without changing a single thing about the flavor. The arepas hold together without getting soggy, so it still tastes great at noon.
