Category: On-the-Go  |  Ready in 18 minutes  |  Serves 1 adult or 2 kids  |  Naturally gluten-free

What You Need

  • 2 Zavor & Co gluten-free arepas
  • 2 chicken thighs
  • 1 tbsp cayenne-paprika hot spice blend
  • 1 tbsp butter, melted
  • 6 dill pickle slices
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise

How to Make It

  1. Cook the chicken in a hot pan until browned and cooked through, 8 minutes.
  2. Stir the hot spice blend into the melted butter and brush it over the chicken.
  3. Warm the arepas in the toaster on high, 2-3 cycles.
  4. Spread mayo on one arepa, add the hot chicken and pickles.
  5. Close, press firmly, wrap in paper; it reheats like a dream.

About This Recipe

Nashville hot chicken is fried chicken doused in a fiery cayenne-and-lard paste, always served with white bread and pickles to cut the heat. A pan-fried, arepa-pressed version keeps the fire and loses the deep fryer.
