Arepa with Korean Bulgogi — Bold BBQ Beef on a Colombian Arepa

June 12, 20261 min read

Sweet, savory, caramelized Korean BBQ beef on a warm handmade arepa. Two of the world's great food cultures meet in one unforgettable bite.

Ingredients

  • 2 Zavor & Co gluten-free arepas

  • ½ lb thinly sliced ribeye or sirloin

  • 3 tbsp gluten-free tamari sauce

  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

  • 1 tbsp brown sugar

  • 2 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 tsp fresh ginger

  • Sliced green onions and sesame seeds to garnish

How to Make It

  1. Mix soy sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, garlic, and ginger into a marinade.

  2. Marinate beef for at least 20 minutes.

  3. Cook beef in a hot skillet 2–3 minutes until caramelized and golden.

  4. Layer on a warm arepa.

  5. Top with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.

A Taste of Korea

Bulgogi means "fire meat" in Korean — thin slices of beef caramelized in a sweet-savory marinade. The natural char and sweetness make it an unexpected but perfect arepa topping.
