Arepa topped with cuban Mojo chicken over a wooden table

Arepa with Cuban Mojo Chicken — A Caribbean Twist on Colombian Comfort Food

June 12, 20261 min read

Juicy citrus-garlic mojo chicken meets a warm, handmade Colombian arepa in this bold fusion recipe. Two cultures. One extraordinary bite.

Ingredients

  • 2 Zavor & Co gluten-free arepas

  • 2 chicken thighs

  • 3 garlic cloves, minced

  • ¼ cup orange juice

  • 2 tbsp lime juice

  • 1 tsp cumin

  • 1 tsp oregano

  • Salt and pepper

  • Fresh cilantro to garnish

How to Make It

  1. Mix garlic, orange juice, lime juice, cumin, oregano, salt, and pepper into a marinade.

  2. Marinate chicken for at least 30 minutes — overnight is best.

  3. Cook chicken in a skillet over medium-high heat, 6–7 minutes per side until golden.

  4. Slice and place on a warm arepa.

  5. Top with fresh cilantro and a squeeze of lime.

A Taste of Cuba

Mojo is Cuba's signature citrus-garlic sauce — bright, garlicky, and perfect against the mild sweetness of a Colombian arepa. Two island cultures, one plate.
